People all around Washington D.C. with any grain of power or position have continued to repeat the tagline “Our Fragile Democracy" and I have some problems with this.
Why do we as a society so easily and comfortably acquiesce to something so ridiculous in nature? WHY are we okay with the idea that after 244 years of successful democracy, we still want to call it fragile?
We spend billions upon billions of dollars every year on funding our military yet we turn around and declare the paper thin weakness of what keeps it all together, our constitution.
In the year 2021, we should be able to declare with strength and assuredness that our democracy is solid. We should have so much redundancy built into our laws that nothing could ever send us into the events of January 6,2021. What are we, Russia?
I tend to believe in this country, even after the sixth. We are a nation of laws and of people that want to remain free. We need some common sense redundancy built into our elections that will safeguard our democracy into the future. We cannot ever let this happen again. Nobody should be able to stand atop the hill and declare falsehoods to the masses that rally an army of the self inflicted disaffected to attempt a violent takeover of our nation.
But that's just me.
